Still Alive - Jenny

Hey guys. We are here now, in luxurious Sheraton Cavalier. We've got it all here - hot running showers, flush toilets, soft beds, a sturdy roof over our heads...not to mention water slides and a fancy steakhouse!

Tomorrow will be the exact opposite. We will have nothing - and will most likely sleep in the car.

The day before was camping, so I guess we get all sorts of experiences. We are currently drying our shoes over the heater because it rained last night and I said "Oh....the weather report said overnight clear, it won't rain..."

Anyway...we will post our stuff soon. Lots of funny things...hopefully we'll keep it that way.

Gotta sleep now, have to wake up early and pack our stuff and GO!

Vancouver to Banff to Calgary

Our trip officially started yesterday morning, and now, around 12am, of the 29th, we are in Sheraton Cavalier Hotel in Calgary.

Drive to Banff was really great, although we fell asleep on the road, the drive there was very scenic. We passed by beautiful mountains to deserted areas in BC, and finished our first day in Lake Louise, Banff. The chains of mountains are just ineffable. We had smokies for dinner when camping in Lake Louise.

This morning, we were woken up by the pattering of rain drops on our tents. Many things are soaked, and it really delayed our trip...

We started a drive towards Vulcan Alberta, it is actually 1:30hrs past Calgary. The others wanted to see the Star Trek town. It was really...trekkie! Pretty cool. The town itself is so deserted that it was really depressing to stay there, other than that it was nice. We had lunch there at a mom and pop's store. It was ok.

We finally went to check in into the hotel. Went for a swim, and had Alberta steak at the Steak H1ouse in the hotel.

That's basically it, I kind of have to get off because the others need to use the internet!

So this is it, the final stretch. T-minus 1hour and half and we'll be officially away.
GSP update? Check. Travel Insurance? Check. CDs for the road? .. well it's still burning away now. Got all my stuff packed? Check, and rechecked and ......... can not oompute all your base are belong to us I AM IN YOUR BASE AND I CAN HAZ THE CHEEZBURGERZ!!..
Okay... Since my excitement has kicked itself up into a WHOLE 'NOTHER LEVEL!! I guess I will not be sleeping until we're on the car.. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

A "wrecked" day

Yawn...I just finished packing everything, and moved my luggage downstairs.

Today we went to get some seawater near UBC, because we're doing the Terry Fox thing: Get a bottle of sea water from the west coast and dump it into the Atlantic Ocean, and we bring a bottle of Atlantic seawater back home.

Since we were suppose to go to the Tower Beach in UBC, but, after climbing down 30 flights of stairs down to the beach, we found out that it was actually the wreck beach!!! (we didn't have Jenny's guidance, she wasn't there) Wreck beach is a pretty interesting tourist attraction, you can see everything! Literally. It was my first time there today...

Since we wanted to film the "filling the bottle with west coast sea water" we felt extremely embarrassed of bringing a camcorder, and two other cameras on our shoulders to the wreck beach. So I was very careful when filming Wei filling the water bottle. I did not shoot the other people on the beach, nor any scenery. I was also afraid to shoot Ben, who was sitting back on the beach because I thought some "nude" people would be mad if we accidently film them and put the video online...

Suddenly tired, i'm off to sleep now!

sharpening time

Currently sharpening knives and tools for trip, also oiling to protect against water.

most of the gear is ready, and all the paperwork is done, just waiting for the others to get here .....

At work, currently. Just finished piling all my stuff on other people. Did not have time to eat lunch yet. Am sorry I couldn't hang out with my mom before I leave...must bring her back some good souvenir or something.

I'm pretty sure I'll forget most things that I thought I should not forget. Funny too, as I made the darn packing list.

Almost There!!

Man, I am just bursting with excitement. It's understandable if most people do not believe me for I always had a weird way of showing it. I am usually well composed and reserved about my feeling.. or simply downright indifferent until the night before the actual event. For example the night before The Sun Run i slept but just 3 hours, but I was still EXTREMELY GIDDY THE MORNING AFTER =D!

I am pretty positive that I will NOT sleep until past 7am.. Byawwwww

T minus 26 hours - Wei

So rooms are all cleaned, I have all the stuff i need to pack sitting in a pile in my room.

Right now I am just downloading games for my psp, adding songs to my mp3 player, and finishing some paperwork for my job for some cases I need to do while I am away.

I wonder how much sleep I'll get tonight...

First blog entry ever!

I just spent the last 2 hours trying to find everything on the "packing list". I packed them, and stuffed them into my duffel bag and my backpack. Finally DONE. Just waiting for my bowl (with a lid), fork, spoon, and my dearest chopsticks to dry before packing them. I wanted to finish packing today so I can concentrate on what I forgot to bring, and pack those things as soon as I remember.

Hopefully I'll spend some more time with my mommy before I leave tomorrow...

Anyway, that's all for the first blog, I am so, extremely, very, very, hungry. I'm going to eat!

One Day Before

Just after 12am on Friday - the day before we leave. We had just finalized a list for last minute shopping that needs to be done.

Tomorrow there is much to do. I realize I won't have time to hang out with the family before I go.

Hope the weather improves as we travel East!
